Ancient Greek, noun. The root of Doros.
- A gift. Something given freely, and made with the receiver in mind.
- An offering handed over whole, with the maker still answerable for it.
A gift, in the older sense.
Doros comes from δῶρον, the ancient Greek word for a gift. Software is always paid for by someone. I would rather it was you, openly, than an advertiser.
How the studio works
I build apps I wanted to exist for myself, with far more detail than is sensible. Sharing them is the point. Paying for them keeps them standing.
No funding and no team page. A desk, a phone full of test builds, and a standard I will not lower. When you write in, you are writing to the person who made the thing.
You are not buying a gift. You are keeping one in service.
What I won’t do
The same five promises, for every app.
- No advertising, ever, in any form
- No selling your data, and no profile built from it
- No feature added because it looks good in a screenshot
- No launch date promised before the work is done
- No pretending to be a bigger company than I am
