The night before payday, look back at this pay. It takes 2 minutes and makes the next one easier.
- Which envelope ran out first? Give it a little more next pay.
- Which one had money left? Lower it, or send the leftover to a goal.
- Was anything a one off, like a birthday dinner? Leave that number alone.
- Change one or two numbers, not everything.
Compare with your last pay, not with anyone else. Spending $30 less than last time is a win.
An envelope that runs out every time isn't a failure. It's the wrong number, and now you know a better one.
