Envelope budgeting, answered.
What Stuffed is, how cash stuffing works on a phone, and what Stuffed does and doesn't do.
Updated 21 October 2026
What is Stuffed?
Stuffed is an envelope budgeting app for iPhone. You give every dollar of your pay an envelope, such as Groceries, Rent or Fun Money, then spend from those envelopes. It's the cash stuffing method rebuilt for people who get paid into a bank account and pay by card.
What is cash stuffing?
Cash stuffing is budgeting with real envelopes of cash. On payday you withdraw your pay, divide it into labelled envelopes for each kind of spending, and pay for things from the matching envelope. When an envelope is empty, you stop spending in that category until next payday, or move money across from another envelope on purpose.
Is there an app for cash stuffing?
Yes. Stuffed does cash stuffing without the cash: payday fills each envelope to its plan in one tap, you log a spend against the envelope it came from, and you always see what's left. It's built around the envelope method itself rather than charts of past spending.
Can I do envelope budgeting without connecting my bank?
Yes, and that's how Stuffed works. There is no bank login and no bank feed. You type your balances and enter what you spend in a couple of taps, or say it out loud with Say it. Many people find entering each spend themselves is what keeps them honest.
Do I need an account?
No. Stuffed has no sign up, no email and no password. Your budget lives on your iPhone and in your iPhone's own backup, not on a server of ours.
Does Stuffed work if I'm paid fortnightly?
Yes. Stuffed works with weekly, fortnightly and monthly pay, and with irregular pay. Each envelope is planned per pay cycle, so a fortnightly budget reads in fortnights.
Is Stuffed good for Australians?
Stuffed is made in Australia and was built for how Australians are paid, including fortnightly pay. It shows Australian dollars, and also works in US dollars and other currencies.
How much does Stuffed cost?
Stuffed has monthly and yearly plans, each with a 7-day free trial, and a one-time purchase. Prices are set for your region and shown in the App Store before you pay. There are no ads.
Can Stuffed track savings goals and debts?
Yes. Goals and debts get their share on payday alongside your envelopes, so a holiday fund or a credit card payoff fills on schedule. Stash shows what you own and what you owe.
What happens when an envelope runs out?
Empty means empty. You can move money in from another envelope, which makes the trade off visible, or wait for payday.
Is Stuffed on Android?
Stuffed is on iPhone today, and also runs on iPad and on Macs with Apple silicon through the App Store. Email [email protected] if you want to hear when it comes to Android.
Can my partner and I share one budget?
Not yet. Stuffed keeps one budget on one iPhone. If a shared household budget across two phones is a must, Goodbudget and YNAB both sync between people.
How is Stuffed different from Goodbudget or YNAB?
Stuffed is for iPhone, needs no account and never connects to a bank, and it's built around payday filling your envelopes. Goodbudget and YNAB run on more platforms and sync between devices and people. The full comparisons are on Compare.
