Goals that stick
In shortGive a goal a name, an amount and a date, then a small amount every pay.
A goal called "Savings" gets raided. A goal called "Japan in March" gets filled. Give yours four things.
- A name you care about.
- An amount: what it really costs.
- A date you want it by.
- An amount every payday, worked out from the other three.
Example: a $2,400 trip
- Paydays until you go
- 16
- Each payday
- $2,400 ÷ 16 = $150
Paid every 2 weeks, that's about 7 months.
Treat it like rent. It goes in every payday, not just when there's some left.
Too much? Push the date out or lower the amount. A goal you can keep beats a big one you quit.
In Stuffed, choose Save for something on Goals and turn on I want it by a date. Stuffed shows what each payday needs, and whether your pay has room.
