When your pay changes
In shortCasual, shifts or gig work? Plan on a low pay and let a buffer cover the gaps.
If your pay is different every time, don't plan on your best pay. Plan on a low one, so the essentials always fit.
- Look at your last 6 pays.
- Find the lowest one.
- Fit rent, bills, groceries and transport inside it.
- When a pay comes in higher, the extra goes to a buffer first.
Example: planning on the low pay
- Lowest of the last 6 pays
- $990
- A big pay
- $1,420
- Extra to the buffer
- $430
Plan on $990 every time. The big pays fill the buffer.
On a short pay, top up from the buffer instead of a credit card. Aim for a buffer that covers one low month of essentials. After that, extra can go to goals.
Some pays, fun money will be $0. That's the plan working.
In Stuffed, tap Edit next to your pay on the Budget tab and turn on My pay changes each time. Payday then asks how much came in.
