Bills that don't match your pay
In shortThe simple sum that turns monthly and yearly bills into an amount each pay.
A year has 26 paydays if you're paid every 2 weeks, or 52 if you're paid weekly. So work out what a bill costs in a year, then share it across your paydays.
- Monthly bill: × 12, then ÷ 26 (every 2 weeks) or ÷ 52 (weekly).
- Bill every 3 months: × 4, then ÷ 26 or ÷ 52.
- Yearly bill: ÷ 26 or ÷ 52.
- Round up to a whole number.
Example: paid every 2 weeks
- Rent $1,500 a month
- about $693 a pay
- Phone $60 a month
- about $28 a pay
- Power $330 every 3 months
- about $51 a pay
- Rego $900 a year
- about $35 a pay
Paid weekly? The same rent is about $347 a week.
Bills come on set dates, and paydays don't always land before them. A head start of about one month of bills keeps monthly bills covered. For a yearly bill due soon, divide by the paydays left instead.
Stuffed does the sum for you. Add each bill under Bills that repeat on the Budget tab. Its envelope fills toward what's due before your next payday.
