Split your pay rise
In shortWhen your pay goes up, save part of the rise and enjoy the rest.
General information only. It isn't financial advice and doesn't know your situation.
When pay goes up, spending tends to rise to match it. A year later the rise is gone, and nothing has changed.
Split it instead. Send part of every rise to savings or debt, and enjoy the rest. You still feel the rise, and you get ahead.
Example: a rise of $100 a pay, after tax
- To a goal or a debt
- $50
- To enjoy
- $50
- Saved in a year, paid every 2 weeks
- $1,300
Work it out on what lands in your bank. A rise before tax is smaller after it.
The same works for a bonus or a tax refund. Split it before it lands, so it doesn't vanish.
In Stuffed, tap Edit next to your pay on the Budget tab, then raise a goal or a debt by your half.
